The bipartisan bill, which passed the House during each of the last three Congresses, would provide Americans with more information on how federal tax dollars are being spent and help eliminate duplicative and wasteful government programs.

WASHINGTON—In the wake of two mass shootings in less than 24 hours in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, the Blue Dog Coalition, which focuses on issues related to fiscal responsibility and national security, announced its endorsement ofH.R. 1931, Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2019, to address the growing threat of white supremacists and other violent right-wing extremists. TheBlue Dog Blueprint for Fiscal Reformoutlines an extensive list of priorities that help reduce our budget deficits and begin to bring down our national debt. Today, the national debt is more than $22 trillion—an unprecedented amount. On the current path, next year, the federal government will spend more servicing interest on the debt than all federal funding that supports children in the United States.

WASHINGTON—Today, the Blue Dog Coalition announced a set of priorities to improve our country's health care system and increase access to care. The priorities focus on ways to protect the Affordable Care Act, improve it, and build on its success, rather than start from scratch. Additionally, they point out needs that are specific to rural and tribal communities, which do not typically have the same resources as urban areas. The priorities also focus on ways to lower the cost of prescription drugs and combat the opioid epidemic.

Specifically, the Coalition requested that leadership only designate items on the Consensus Calendar for consideration under a process that does not waive other House rules, including those that are intended to keep our fiscal house in order.
