Firefighter and Union Leader Advances as the Democratic Nominee to Flip One of the Nation’s Most Competitive SeatsWASHINGTON, D.C. — Blue Dog PAC today congratulated Bob Brooks on his victory in the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, where the 20-year Bethlehem firefighter and union leader is now the party’s nominee to flip one of the most competitive seats in the country.
“Bob Brooks has spent his life fighting for his community — for better pay, for affordable health care, for safer workplaces. Today, the voters of Lehigh Valley backed him to bring that fight to Congress,” said Blue Dog Jared Golden of Maine. “As a firefighter and union leader, Bob knows what it means to work with your hands and stretch a paycheck. He’ll fight for working families because he lives the same kind of life they do. Blue Dog PAC is all in for Bob because we know he’ll stand up for blue-collar workers and families across the Lehigh Valley.”
Bob Brooks is one of eight candidates endorsed by the Blue Dog PAC so far this election cycle. The Blue Dogs have a track record of winning tough districts — half of the Blue Dogs serving in Congress today were elected in seats won by Donald Trump in 2024. That same dynamic makes PA-07 one of Democrats’ top pick-up opportunities in 2026, after the Republican incumbent won the seat by just 1 percentage point in the last election.
