Blue Dog Coalition Grows With Addition of Newest Member: Rep. Wiley Nickel (NC-13)

Washington – Today the Blue Dog Coalition announced Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) as its newest member. Rep. Nickel is the third freshman Democrat to join the Blue Dog Coalition in recent months, growing the group’s membership to 10.
“Since its inception, the Blue Dog Coalition has consistently been at the forefront of finding pragmatic, bipartisan policy solutions on important issues facing the American people,” said Rep. Nickel. “I look forward to working under the leadership of co-chairs Golden, Gluesenkamp Perez, and Peltola and with my Blue Dog Coalition colleagues to deliver common sense solutions for the people of North Carolina’s 13th District.”
Two weeks ago the Blue Dog Coalition approved its leadership for the 118th Congress, with Rep. Jared Golden (ME-02), Rep. Mary Peltola (AK-AL), and Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) serving as Blue Dog Co-Chairs.
“Rep. Nickel is a commonsense leader who is loyal to his North Carolina constituents. His bipartisan approach to politics and his dedication to public service make him a perfect addition to the Blue Dog Coalition. We’re excited another fighter for working people and mainstream America is joining the Blue Dogs,” the three Co-Chairs said.
Wiley Nickel is a father, husband, and is currently serving his first term in Congress as the U.S. Representative of the 13th District of North Carolina. Nickel serves on the House Financial Services Committee and is working across the aisle to find solutions and deliver results for North Carolina’s 13th District. Prior to being elected to Congress, Nickel served as a North Carolina State Senator, attorney, small business owner and worked for two White House administrations.
With the addition of Rep. Nickel, the Blue Dog Coalition now totals 10 members, representing districts from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
