WASHINGTON – Today the Blue Dog Coalition announced their support forH.R. 4038,the American Security Against Foreign Enemies (SAFE) Act of 2015, as currently drafted. The bill simply adds Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) review and unanimous agreement between the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and the Director of National Intelligence before refugees from Iraq and Syria are admitted to the United States.

Blue Dogs Back Maintaining Affordable Auto Credit for Consumers

WASHINGTON – The Blue Dog Coalition overwhelmingly supportsH.R. 1737, the Reforming the CFBP Indirect Auto Financing Guidance Act. The bill seeks to fix a problematic Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) policy that would make it difficult for auto dealers to discount interest rates for their customers. As most consumers obtain financing credit through their car dealers, this policy could decrease competition and increase costs, hurting, rather than helping, consumers.

Blue Dog Coalition Supports Giving Small Businesses Flexibility in Providing Healthcare

WASHINGTON – The Blue Dog Coalition announced their support for H.R. 2911, the Small Business Healthcare Relief Act. The legislation seeks to roll back problematic regulations put in place to implement the Affordable Care Act that fine businesses with less than 50 employees for offering Healthcare Reimbursement Agreements (HRAs) to reimburse their employees for healthcare-related expenses. Employees can use these funds to purchase healthcare on the individual market or for out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Blue Dog Coalition Supports Ending Ban on Crude Oil Exports

WASHINGTON – The Blue Dog Coalition announced their support today forH.R. 702, a bill to repeal the ban on crude oil exports in the United States. The Coalition backs the bill as changing market conditions have proven that the 1970’s-era ban on crude exports is hopelessly outdated. Among countries with the largest energy reserves, the United States is the sole nation that prohibits the export of its own domestically-produced oil.

Blue Dog-Endorsed Legislation on Toxic Substances Passes House

WASHINGTON – Today, the House of Representatives resoundingly passedH.R. 2576, theToxic Substances Control Modernization Act of 2015(TSCA), by a vote of 398-1. The Blue Dog Coalition endorsed this bipartisan legislation as a commonsense reform of outdated regulations to improve chemical safety while boosting economic growth and innovation.
