Lou Correa

CA-46

Co-Chair for Policy & Legislative Strategy

Congressman Lou Correa represents the Orange County community where he was born, raised, and is now raising his own family. The son of working-class parents who immigrated from Mexico, he grew up watching his mother clean hotel rooms and his father work at a paper mill. They gave him the chance to pursue the education they never had—a path Lou still sees as the great equalizer.

A proud product of Anaheim public schools, Lou earned an economics degree from Cal State Fullerton and later a JD and MBA from UCLA. Before entering public service, he worked as a banker, attorney, and licensed real estate broker—experience that taught him how to solve real-world problems.

Lou’s career in public service began in the California State Assembly, followed by years on the Orange County Board of Supervisors and in the State Senate. In Congress, he has built a reputation for pragmatic, results-driven leadership. He champions public education, public safety, health care access, and mental health services, while pushing to make higher education more affordable and ensure taxpayers get a fair return on their investment.

Lou lives in Santa Ana, just a few miles from the neighborhood where he grew up. He and his wife, Esther, have been married for more than 30 years and raised their children in the Santa Ana public schools.
